One of the most rewarding aspects of undertaking commission based handmade furniture is the designing and making of such unique and thoroughly individual pieces. These are often bespoke cabinets for specific purposes, bespoke console tables or bespoke coffee tables. Some of my more interesting bespoke pieces are shown in the gallery.
I recently made an art deco inspired cocktail cabinet with a matching chest of drawers for an apartment in London. The furniture was constructed from macassar ebony veneers with an ebonised cherry frame with sycamore detailing. The rich, dark exterior veneers contrast amazingly with the brightly lit ripple sycamore and glass interior. The lighting effect is exaggerated by the internally mirrored surfaces and the reflections from the glasses stored inside.
Another quite unique piece I made for an interior in Surrey was the ‘Lattice’ collectors cabinet made with an ebonised oak frame and containing eight crimson veneered drawers.
